9 Health and Fitness week July 2006
Year 9 of Central
Foundation Girls School held a Health and Fitness week in July 2006.
The aim of the week was to promote healthy eating and the importance
of exercise and keeping fit. Students were given a variety of options
on how they can promote Health and Fitness through the week.

Each student was
also asked to produce one of the following:
| A booklet on
an aspect of Health and Fitness (example Food) |
| A leaflet about
an aspect of Health and Fitness (example Exercise what happens?) |
| A
survey to find out what is available in the borough of Tower Hamlets |
| A
life size cut out of the effects of a) smoking b) alcohol c) lack
of exercise on the body |
| An information
guide as to what the school has to offer as clubs / activities
/ recreation events to help students to stay fit and healthy. Find
details of who can attend. What days are available? Time of activities.
How long do clubs etc run for? Are the activities free? If not
how much do they cost. |
| Produce a new
PE programme for year 9 that would promote Health and Fitness in
the school. Can Health and Fitness be linked to any other subjects?
DT-Food. Science-Pulse rate. PAL-Health and Safety. |
| Produce a collage
of sporting images on A3 paper. |
| Find out about
working in Health, Fitness and Leisure industry. Look in newspapers;
find out from local sports centre. Use LRC |
| Supermarkets
are laid out so that customers buy sweets at the checkout. Design
a super market that is user friendly to the healthy eating lifestyle,
we all should lead. |
Students also had
the opportunity to take part in aerobics, cycling, dance workshop,
football, healthy walk in Mile End, karate, sports therapy, tag rugby
and volleyball
