EMPLOYMENT ISSUES

No place for prejudice

Discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation in employment has been illegal in the UK since 2003.

The Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003 introduced in December 2003 mean that lesbians, gay men and bisexuals can at last take action if they are the victim of harassment or discrimination at work.

“Many lesbians, gay men and bisexuals were unaware that the law had changed so Stonewall launched a major public information campaign drawing attention to the new employment laws which protect lesbian, gay and bisexual people in the workplace for the first time.”- Stonewall
